Memorial Gifts & Donations

Dallas Thompson, Sr., age 75 of Castle Hayne entered into peaceful rest on Monday, September 2, 2013. His wife and children know that he fought a good fight and has finished his race.

He was born on November 21, 1937 to the late Johnny and Emma Thompson. Dallas was one of eight children, Hazel, John, Ruth, Pete, Florence, Raymond, and Ronald.

Dallas was a member of Castle Hayne Advent Christian Church, he spent 35 years working at Martin Marietta Aggregates in Castle Hayne where he was a drill operator and explosives expert. Dallas was a man that worked with his hands and those that knew him best knew that there wasn’t anything he could not do to fix it or rig it, to make it work. Dallas was well known as a fisherman and oyster man, and was a member of the Hardee’s Breakfast Club in Castle Hayne.

Dallas will leave a big void in our lives, but there are so many wonderful memories to look back on and laugh at. His family and friends were all so blessed to have known and loved him for so many years.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Marilyn Rae Thompson; his namesake and heart beat will carry on his legacy, Dallas Thompson, Jr. and wife Rachel; his BabyGirl, Betty Ann Barden and husband Leslie; six grandchildren left to cherish his memory, Adam, Nicholas, Kayla Rae, Dallas, III “Chance”, Jewell, and Rain; one brother, Ronald Thompson, and one sister, Ruth Lee.
Dallas was preceded in death by a son, Peter John Elkins.

The family will see friends from 5:30 to 7 PM Friday, September 6, 2013 at Castle Hayne Advent Christian Church. A Celebration of Life ceremony will begin at 7 pm officiated by Rev. Randall Smith.
