Daniel Thomas 57, of Wilmington passed away Sunday December 11, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

He was born in Anderson County, TX on October 7, 1954. His parents were Joseph Melvin Thomas and Ollie Jewel Fitzgerald Thomas.
Dan was a veteran of the US Navy serving for 20 years retiring with the rank of OS1. After his naval retirement he worked as a manager of Dunkin Donuts with his wife and children.

Surviving are his wife Jo-Ann Thomas; children, Cynthia Boulay and husband Matthew, Christina Ruiz and fiancé Marc Cooperstein, Janel Thomas; one grandson, Christian Boulay. His brothers; Jim and wife Nancy; Ray and wife Debra; sister Kay, sister-in-law Lisa; brothers-in law Michael and wife Tracy, Joseph and wife Eve, mother-in-law, Mary Lou; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be 1 pm Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1013 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, NC 28405. His urn will be placed in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a date to be determined. A memorial will be held in Old Bridge, New Jersey on Thursday December 22nd.

    I had only known Daniel for a short time working with Adult Day Services but it was long enough to know what a beautiful and kind spirit he had. I loved taking his hands and looking into his eyes and seeing the gentleness and kindness there. We all miss him so very much. I send love and prayers to his precious family.
