David Earl Norris, age 65 of Leland passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Duke Medical Center.

He was born in Kinston, NC on September 17, 1948. He was preceded in death by his father, Silas Norris, and brothers, Kenneth Norris, Otis Norris and Jimmy Norris.

David was a member of First Baptist Church of Leland. He was retired from DuPont in 2002. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag racing and spending time with his family and friends, especially his two grandchildren whom he loved very much.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Becky Norris; two sons, Allen Norris and Jason Norris and wife Riley; two grandchildren, Taylor and Ella; his mother, Mary Frances Norris of Richlands; two brothers Genes Norris of Beulaville and Gilbert Norris and wife Carole of Pink Hill; one sister, Geraldine Thigpen and husband Ferrell of Potters Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Leland. The family will see friends from 9:30 until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Quinn Cemetery in Kenansville, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Leland Building Fund.
