David Lloyd Flewwellin, age 69, of Wilmington passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.
He was born August 20, 1946 in Long Island, New York the son of Lloyd Clayton Flewwellin and the late Eleanor Stark Flewwellin. He is preceded in death by his two brothers, Tony and Paul Flewwellin.
David proudly served his country during Vietnam as a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of New Hanover High School in Wilmington and furthered his education at Miller Motte Business School. Later, he retired from a career of twenty five years with Corning Glassworks as a mechanic and found a true passion after opening Sentimental Journey, an antiques store. David was an active member of Springview Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 10 in Wilmington.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 28 years, Doris Bridges Flewwellin; sons, David Flewwellin and wife Pamela of Alaska and Stanley Flewwellin and wife Ruth Ann of Wilmington, NC; daughters, Katonya Keziah and husband Tom of Wilmington, NC, Gina Britt and husband Gerry of Summerville, SC, and Vickie Parker of Topsail Beach, NC; Grandchildren, Brandi Parker, Laci Parker , Elizabeth Britt, Addison Britt, Gerad Britt, Joshua Flewwellin, Naomi Flewwellin, Sarai Flewwellin, Delilah Flewwellin, Elijah Flewwellin, Michael, Naluai, Ella Flewwellin; father, Lloyd Clayton Flewwellin; five brothers, Ricky, Kelly, Shawn and Mike (Joan) Flewwellin all of Wilmington, NC and Chris (Edie) Flewwellin of Clinton, NC; two sisters, Mary Aciago of Wilmington and Linda (Leonard) Johnson of Wilmington, NC; and numerous other loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 22, 2016 at Oleander Memorial Gardens with Emma Eubanks Officiating and Military Honors Rendered by Post 10 Honor Guard.
