David “Big Dave” Eugene McLean, 52, of Wilmington, N.C. went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born in New Hanover County, January 9, 1957, son of Margaret ( Peggy ) Hamm and husband, Pete of Rocky Point, North Carolina. He was an Honors (Phi Theta Kappa) graduate of Cape Fear Community College obtaining an A.A.S. degree in Architectural Technology.

Surviving members of his family include; Son, Micheal Christopher “Chris” McLean; Son, Johnathan Bradley “Brad” McLean; Son, Taylor Drew McLean; Daughter, Whitney M. Alcorn, husband Terry and two grandsons, Kaden and Riley; Sister, Lisa Lane Coogan, husband Donnie and three nephews, Malcolm, Josh, and Tanner; Sister; Julie A. Montford, husband David, nephew Jeffrey “Jeff” and niece Georganna.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2009 beginning at 11:00 am at Pine Valley United Methodist Church, 3788 Shipyard Boulevard. A reception will follow.

The family wishes to thank Pine Valley United Methodist Church, David and Elizabeth Beam, and Lighthouse Worship Center for their unselfish acts of kindness shown to us throughout this difficult time.

    To all my nephews and neice all my love goes to you on the loss of your father. I will miss him as much as you will, he was a wonderful man. we did not always see eye to eye but I did love him very much..I am happy in the knowledge he is with our great father in heaven, know that he will watch over you always.
