David M. Godwin was welcomed into his eternal heavenly home by his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on November 13, 2013.

He was born on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 1942, and he loved telling his siblings that his Mom said he was the “prettiest heart” she ever had.

For the past 30 years David lived in the Carolina Beach/Wilmington area. After retiring from the trucking industry he began a “buy/resale” business and was known as the “Lawnmower Man” at the Stairway Flea Market.

David had a passion for fishing and on many mornings he could be seen on the north end dropping his fishing lines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Pearl Johnson Godwin.

David is survived by his wife Patricia (Pat), sons Steve, Derick, (Lynn), step-son Michael Yates (Lindsey), grandchildren Scott (Paige), Justin and DJ Godwin; step-grand-daughter Madison Yates; great-grandson Brent Godwin; sisters Jean Jones and Shirley Jones and his brother, Ray Godwin (Rachel).

Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday November 16, 2013 at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

A graveside service and burial will follow at 3 PM from the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Garner, N.C.

    Ana says:
I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. Hope these words give you a new hope.
