Dawn A. Bortone

Dawn Bortone, a beloved mother and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday September 22, 2023 in Wilmington, NC surrounded by her family.

Dawn was born on February 26, 1960 to Alma and John Meloa in Passaic, New Jersey. She spent many wonderful years there before moving with her family to Leland, NC where she remained a resident until her passing.

Throughout her journey, Dawn touched the lives of countless people, and will be remembered for her unwavering generosity. She enjoyed traveling with her close friends, spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandson, Julian.

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents Alma and John Meola, her sister Sandra Carfagno, and her beloved son, Michael Bortone. She is survived by her siblings, April Bortone, Johnny Meola, Louie Meola, her loving children Daniel Bortone, Nicole Bortone, and Thomas Bortone, and her grandson Julian Bortone, as well as countless nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Dawn at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Basilica of St. Mary, 412 Ann Street, Wilmington, 28401.

Flowers can be delivered to Wilmington Funeral and Cremation in Wilmington on Thursday September 28, 2023, and will be taken to the service at the Basilica of St Mary on Friday.
