Deborah “Deb” Seme passed away at her home in Wilmington on Thursday November 17, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia. She was 59.
Deb was born in Montreal, Canada on August 14, 1952 and grew up in Port Credit, on Lake Ontario. Before moving to Wilmington in 1995 she lived in Banff, Alberta where she skied the Rocky Mountain slopes nearly every day. She was a beautiful skier, a great tennis player, and an accomplished sailor. One of her favorite memories was of a 300 mile canoe trip down the Yukon River in Alaska.
She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Joe Seme, her twin brother David Brunning and wife Joanna, her brother Scott, nephews Mitchell, Austin and MacKenzie, stepdaughter Tracy Seme, and her beloved dogs, Nellie and Zelda, and Alice the cat.
Deb was a successful painting contractor in Wilmington for 15 years. She was known as “Deb the Painter.” It was a rare occasion when one of her clients did not become a good friend. She truly loved her life in Wilmington, her family and her many friends. Her beautiful smile could light up a room, and even during her long battle with cancer her sense of humor and above all, her cheerful and positive attitude touched and inspired everyone around her. She will be sorely missed.
A celebration of Deb’s life will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews on the Sound in Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Deb’s name to SECU Family House, 123 Old Mason Farm Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.
