Deborah “Debbie” McKinney Loftis, age 60, of Wilmington, NC, passed away with her family by her side, on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Born on July 8, 1952, in Cowpens, SC, Debbie was a graduate of the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg. A registered nurse, Debbie retired from Cape Fear Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Debbie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Loftis, Jr.; her children, James Edward Loftis, III (Heather), Jennifer Loftis Rice (Henry), Matthew David Loftis (Lisa); grandchildren, Wesley, Emma, David, Jasmine, Lillie, Sam, Ben; along with two step grandchildren, David and Caroline; three sisters, Kathy Davis, Annette Williams (Eddie), LeneiceThompson (Robbie); sister-in-law Ann Rutledge (Ronnie); and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Malissa McKinney of Spartanburg.

A service celebrating Debbie’s life will be held 11 am Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC.

    Words cannot express the sense of loss that your family must be feeling. I fell this loss along with you. Deborah was my friend.
