Memorial Gifts & Donations

Debra (Debbie) Kay Komlos passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, surrounded by friends and family.

Debbie was born on August 18, 1958 as daughter to the late Wilmar and Pat (Pearl) Allen in Columbus, Ohio, and was later step-daughter to the late George Minnich. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Alexis (Alex) Komlos; her stepchildren, Shawn Komlos and his wife, Nicole of Woodbridge, VA, Marc Komlos and his wife Michelle Ferree of Raleigh, NC, and Kristin Skaggs and her husband Mike of Twinsburg, OH; her step-grandchildren William and Alyssa Komlos; Brother in Law Bryan Komlos; Sister in Law JoAnne Newell, and a host of lifelong friends and neighbors who were integral to her life and cherished as family.

Debbie lived a life dedicated to service to others and caring for all who were fortunate enough to know her. After graduating from Pompano Beach High School in South Florida, she worked in the field of nursing throughout her life, including over 46 years in roles ranging from licensed practical nurse, ICU registered nurse, and clinical research coordinator, to her current role as MDS coordinator for Peak Resources healthcare in Wilmington, NC. She loved spending time with close friends and family whose comfort and well-being she would always place in front of her own. When she wasn’t busy at work or taming the exuberance of her puppy, Santana, Debbie loved being near the ocean, going to Disney World with her husband, and entertaining others with her prized barbecue ribs, lasagna, and perhaps a cocktail or two.

The family will not be having a service; however, a celebration of Debbie’s life will be held in the coming months with those who knew and loved her.

Those wishing to honor Debbie’s memory might consider a donation to an organization that Alex and Debbie both consider as having a very important mission – the Alzheimer’s Association.
