D. Gordon Bordeaux

D. Gordon Bordeaux passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare  in Wilmington, NC.

Gordon was born April 30, 1929 in Elizabethtown, NC, to the late Alston Asbury and Elena Earle (Suggs) Bordeaux. He was a 1957 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill.

He was a Marine Corp veteran and enjoyed 31 years with the NC Highway Dept. where he served as the Head Right-of -Way Agent for six counties. Gordon was a Masonic member at Orient Lodge #395, Wilmington, NC. He was a one-of-a- kind man, husband, and father, never meeting a stranger and incredibly generous with his time and talents. For those that knew him will understand the many wonderful “Gordonisms” he told! He was also a proud member of the Whitey’s round table.

He Married Joyce Nance who proceeded him in death May 5, 2006. He is survived by his two sons, DeMette G Bordeaux II and wife Vivian, J. Anthony Bordeaux (Patricia), one grandson, DeMette G Bordeaux III and wife Victoria and one great grandson, D Gordon Bordeaux IV (G4) and one brother Robert Bordeaux and wife Jenni and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his special companion, Glenda Norton. He was preceded in death by 14 siblings.

Family, friends and others whose lives he touched are invited to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Wilmington, NC for a memorial service to honor Gordon at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 1, 2023. A reception will follow the service. The family will see friends from 10 AM until service time.
