Denis Donegan, 84, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away suddenly and peacefully at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington NC, with his wife, Donna, by his side. He is survived by his son Stuart Donegan (Heidy) of Hong Kong and daughter Jennifer Donegan (Matt Kendall) of Syracuse, NY.

Denis had lived and worked in many places. Born in Brooklyn, he shared time growing up in both New York and Germany. After serving in the military in various capacities, he settled in Syracuse NY to attend the University of Syracuse and graduated with a PHD from the Maxwell School. He worked as a Psychologist in Chenango County, NY developing Early Childhood programs for various elementary schools and writing grant proposals for funding
many of the programs, in addition to having a private practice. He relocated to Pittsburgh to join the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh in a dual capacity; he was both a full professor in the School of Education and the Associate Director for the Overseas Study Program developed
to provide educators an opportunity to study in London and Somerset England, the then USSR, and Greece. During his tenure at The University of Pittsburgh, he was also a visiting professor at City University of London and The Dillington House in Somerset England and coauthored a
book on education in the USSR.

Denis loved theater and the arts. He held memberships to various museums and donated to various organizations that supported that love. He was an active member of The Players Club in NY and coauthored a book on comedy.

Denis loved animals and supported many organizations that help to prevent cruelty and provide a sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals.

His wish would be that any memorial contributions be made to the Spay and Neuter Program at Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
