Diane Hammond MacNeish, age 68, of Wilmington passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at her home.
Diane was born in Wilmington, NC on October 15, 1945, the daughter of the late M.E. “Ed” Hammond and Elizabeth L. “Beth” Hammond. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Linda H. Butler and brother, Mac Hammond.
Diane lived most of her life in Leland, NC and was a member of Leland Baptist Church. She was a stay at home mom and spent many years volunteering in Dixie Youth Baseball and school events with her children.
Diane was a beloved Wife, Mama and “MeMe” to her family. She will forever be remembered for her singing, her laughter, her generous spirit, her unwavering faith and love for her Lord.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 18 years, Lachlan J. MacNeish Sr. of the home, her beloved children, Chris Thomas, DeAnna Thomas Brown (Kenny) and Curtis Thomas (Candice and her daughter Samantha Jordan) all of Leland and her precious grandchildren whom she loved deeply and was so incredibly proud of, Justin Brown, Logan Brown (whom she lovingly called “Squeek), Morgan Thomas, Jordan Thomas and Cody Thomas; and brother, Jerry Hammond. Also surviving are special nieces, Melissa Soles and Valarie Davis and stepsons, Lachlan MacNeish Jr. (Jennifer), Tom MacNeish and Doug MacNeish.
A celebration of Diane’s life will be held 2:00pm Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 41st Street, Wilmington. A reception will follow the service at the chapel.
