Donald Wayne (Donny) Collins, age 65, of Leland, NC passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
Donny was born on April 29, 1958 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Franklin Monroe Collins and Dorothy Edwards Collins.
He loved working with his hands and had a passion for making what was once old, new again. He dedicated his life to his work and family and made a lasting impact on those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Taphne Taylor Collins of the home; children, Christopher Collins of Rural Hall, NC; Kelly Love, husband Brandon, of Harmony, NC; Tyler “Ashley” Collins, husband Austin Ziglar, of Winnabow, NC; Richard Griffin Polk of Wilmington, NC; Curtis Taylor Bunn of Leland, NC; Adrianna Bunn also of Leland, NC; Carrie Vogt, husband Ray, of King, NC; Sandy Jarrell, husband Robbie, of Winnabow, NC and Allison Jarrell also of Winnabow, NC. Two brothers, Larry Collins of Sparta, NC and Ronald Collins of King, NC; a sister Cathy Doub of Pfafftown, NC; twenty-four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of many friends who were part of the family including friend/son/brother James Haupt.
A time of visitation will be held at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation Chapel on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Wilmington Funeral and Cremation Chapel is located at 1535 South 41st Street Wilmington, NC 28403.
Interment will be at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery followed by a celebration of his life at New River Campground and Canoe on Sunday, July 30, 2023.
Donny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
