Donald J. Austermann, 75, of Wilmington passed away at his home on February 21, 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sallie Austermann; sons Christopher S. Austermann, of Bethel, CT; Kent S. Austermann and wife Kameran, of Chicago, IL; daughter Karen Paquette and husband Matthew, of Peabody, MA; his grandchildren Quinn, Sloan, and Haley Austermann, Ethan Austermann, and Sophia and Simon Paquette; brothers George Austermann and wife Betty, of Peterborough, NH and Kurt Austermann and wife Valerie, of Medford, OR.

He was raised in Jaffrey, New Hampshire and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1954. Don raised his family in Chappaqua, NY and spent most of his career in publishing in New York City.

Don was an active supporter of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, loved classical music and was an avid reader and traveler. He loved his family.

A memorial service will be held this summer in Jaffrey, NH.
