Donald Ray “Woody” Wood, age 71, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday July 4, 2016 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born on July 2, 1945 in Rochester, NY, the son of Earl Kenneth Wood and the late Bette Mae Nellis Wood.

Donald served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Coast Guard until his retirement in 1989.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Lydia “Tina” Wood; children Donna Elizabeth Wood and Christopher Lewis Wood and his wife Monica;
grandchildren Parker and Abby Wood; his father Earl Wood; sister Anne Clements and husband Bud; niece Jessica Clements and nephew Will Clements.

He was predeceased by his mother Bette Mae Nellis Wood.

The family will gather with friends to celebrate Donald’s life at a visitation from 4:00 till 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel 1535 S. 41st Street Wilmington, NC 28403.
