Doris Carol Bowman, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was born on August 12, 1936, in Brunswick County, North Carolina. Doris lived a life dedicated to faith, family, and love.
From a young age, Doris found solace and joy in serving the Lord. She was a longtime member of Pentecostals of Wilmington, where her unwavering faith in God shone brightly. Doris’s love for her family knew no bounds, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones.
Doris will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Ramona Faye Jordan of Red Springs, NC, Roxanne Denise Patti of Elizabethtown, NC, and Karen Renee Worley and husband, Charles Eric, of Leland, NC. She is also survived by her brother, David Henry of San Antonio, TX, and her sister, Virginia “Polly” Skipper of Leland, NC. Doris leaves behind a legacy of love through her four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She also had several nieces and nephews who adored her.
In addition to her family, Doris found comfort in the companionship of her special pet named “Cali.” Their bond brought joy and warmth to her life.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, William Wooten “Willie” Henry and Orena Clemmons Henry. She was also predeceased by her husband, Burton Eugene Bowman, as well as her brother, Willie Bryan Henry and a sister, Margaret Orene Mintz.
While Doris’s obituary may not include a list of notable achievements or remarkable professional experiences, her impact on those who knew her cannot be measured by mere accolades. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her unconditional love for her family, and the joy she brought into their lives.

Funeral service will be 12 Noon Friday October 6, 2023 at the Pentecostals of Wilmington, 3615 Chippenham Drive Wilmington, NC 28412 with Pastor Floyd Morris officiating.
A time of visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow at 3:00 PM Friday at Peace Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery Winnabow, NC.
Pallbearers will be Mike Fuller, Dean Carroll, Michael Dial, Shawn Burch, Lee Harrison, James Malpass, Mike Poole and Nathan Swain.
