Doris Grizzle DeVane

Doris Grizzle DeVane, 72, of Castle Hayne, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Dahalonga, GA, September 19, 1946, she was a dedicated worker at Corning Inc. for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Hazel Grizzle, her loving husband Douglas DeVane, and her sister Deborah Britt. She is survived by her daughters Ashley Britt of Castle Hayne, Kimberly Barnhill (Matt) of Rocky Point, and grandchildren Vance and Lanie. She is also survived by her brothers Hubert Grizzle Jr and George Grizzle of Castle Hayne, Jeff Grizzle (Beth) of Watha, and sister Barbara Daniel (Edward) of Rocky Point. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doris was a devoted member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church where she actively served with the preschool department for many years and other various areas. She loved her church and her church family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 20 from 11:00am – 12:00pm at the Wrightsboro Baptist Church, 2736 Castle Hayne Wilmington, NC. Celebration of Life will begin at 12:00pm. Pastor Tommy Bridges, Rev. Mike Lewis, and Pastor Stuart Lewis will be officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in her memory to the Wrightsboro Baptist Church, Building Through Faith Fund, 2736 Castle Hayne Rd., Wilmington, NC 28401.
