Doris Hendrix Bland, age 92, of Wilmington and formerly of Lumberton, NC, was called to her heavenly home Monday, July 6, 2015.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Hendrix, Julius Baxley and Robert Bland; and infant son, Larry Hendrix.

She is survived by her sons, Gene Hendrix (Karen) of Eureka, MO, Daniel Hendrix (Brenda) of Wilmington, NC, Carey Hendrix (Stephanie Dauphinais) of Hampstead, NC; her beloved five grandchildren, John Hendrix (Andrea), Holly Goodwin (Tim), Katie Hoggard (Brian), Jared Hendrix and Natalie Hendrix; and four great grandchildren, Jack, Annie, Lucy and Braxton.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her residence. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Garden of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington NC 28401.

    My thoughts & prayers go out to all of you. Losing Doris is not only like losing a best friend but to me like losing my precious Aunt that raised me and my Mom all over again. I love her so much and we really had some good times together. I will miss our daily chats and sometimes more than once a day. She use to laugh when I would call earlier than usual and would say "You beat me to it again". My peace comes in knowing she is in a better place and sitting with Jesus. What a glorious occasion that will be for us all. We will see all of our loved ones again. God be with you all and know I wish I could be with you. Hope to see you when she is interred.
