Memorial Gifts & Donations

Doris Rae Haley Brandhof, age 88, of Hampstead, passed away at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on May 14, 2021.

She was born on March 24, 1933 in Oxford, MD to the late Herbert and Dorothy.

Doris was, and still is, very loved and admired by all her family and her friends; they were all family to her. She enjoyed many crafts, such as Scherenschnitte (German paper cutting art) and basket weaving. Doris was President of the Basket Maker’s Guild and a Master of Scherenschnitte. She was a member of Hampstead Methodist Church and was heavily involved in events with them. Doris loved to cook, help with teas, and participate in social events with the church, in which there were many in her years of service. Her friends and family meant the world to her and she enjoyed being active in the community in which she lived. Doris also instilled lifelong values and lessons in her children, those in which she learned from her parents, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren are now being taught by their parents. Those lessons involved being independent and always finding a way to provide, even when the going may get tough. Doris will live on in the hearts of those who carry her lifelong lessons with them.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Deborah R. Berry, Diane G. Berry, and Holly C. Berry, her grandchildren Jennifer R. Peters and Samuel Z. Spayd (Nancy), 3 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons, Great Aunt Libby, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Doris is predeceased by both her brothers, Herbert “Sonny” and Richard.
