Dorothy “Dot” Benson Henry, age 90, of Wilmington went home after a long full life on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 after God saw her getting tired.
Born March 10, 1924 during the depression, she grew up on a farm in Delco, North Carolina where the entire family worked together to make almost everything they needed. In later years, Dot was known for singing to the delight of nurses and aides at Autumn Care.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, T.A. Henry, Sr.; her son, Nance Henry; and half-brother, Charles McDaniel.
Survivors include her daughter, Rose Bryant (Evan), one devoted granddaughter, Gail Ebers (Josh), two great grandchildren, Damian Swan(Holly) and Carissa Swan; two great-great grandchildren, Aiden and Skye; brother, Donald Benson; special friend, Tawnya Booke; and numerous other loving family and friends.
We will miss her but we know she was ready to join others in Heaven.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Wilmington Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Mintz officiating.
