Memorial Gifts & Donations

Douglas (Doug) Andrew Dameron, 51, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Monday, March 29 at Cape Hatteras National Seashore doing what he loved. Fishing was Doug’s passion, and he passed away trying to pull in a 30 lb. shark. A true fisherman, he shared his love of the sport with everyone he knew, including his wife, children, and friends. He loved fishing and boating with his family and friends and spent many hours on the Intracoastal Waterway in Wilmington.

Doug never met a stranger and loved everyone he met. He grew up in Martinsville, Virginia, and attended Virginia Tech for college where he played in the marching band. He was a dedicated Hokie and cheered them on at every chance. His love of music continued beyond college and he also played drums and the electric guitar. Doug’s music tastes ranged from Johnny Cash to Rush to Slayer. He spent his free time playing tennis on the Porters Neck Country Club tennis team for many years and was an active member of the club.

Above all else, Doug was a family man and an amazing father. He loved his children and wife more than anything. He made sure to always see Mackenzie cheer, take Avery fishing, and watch Alistair play tennis. He was a scout master for many years for both of his boys. Doug treated all of his friend’s children as his own.

He is survived by his wife, Christy Dameron, his three children, Mackenzie, age 17, Avery, age 15, and Alistair, age 13. He is also survived by his father, Charles Russell Dameron, and brother, Kenneth Dameron, of Martinsville, VA, his sister, Julie and husband, John Fogel of Roanoke, Virginia. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Heather Fox Dameron. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Lang Dameron.

The Family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 3:00PM on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation. The family respectfully requests that attendees wear masks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dameron Memorial College Fund or a charity of your choice. Donations can be made by check or through PayPal Friends & Family at dameronmemorial@gmail.com.

Christy and Kids, I am praying for you and all of the family. I can’t imagine your heartbreak. I know God loves you and will help you through this time. Christy, I didn’t really know Doug but I know he was special because I know you. You truly are such a wonderful person. I always admired your teaching abilities and was touched at how you became an amazing mother so quickly. I hope you feel God’s big arms around you as you walk forward. I know you will always carry sweet memories in your heart and will build many new memories with the children too. Love, Ann Jenkins
