Dwight Frank Goodwin, Sr., 76 of Cedar Cove Assisted Living passed away at his residence with his daughter by his side. He was born in Bloomfield, CT on June 14, 1946; son of the late Robert Goodwin and Jane Barlow Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin ran Cardinal Transportation Company, Inc. and loved being behind the wheel. His family joked about him being their personnel GPS.
Dwight, an honorable man of little words but everyone listened when he spoke.
He was a loving and devoted father who worked tirelessly to provide the best life for his two children. A school bus transportation owner his whole life, he had the innate ability to navigate you anywhere you needed to be. His children recall times when they were lost and all they needed to do was pick up the phone and call Dad. He always knew how to get you home. Alzheimer’s took away his ability to do so much but it never took away his capacity to love and enjoy all of life’s little moments. He will always be known as the man with a million dollar smile.
Surviving are his children, Dwight Frank Goodwin, Jr. (Maria) and Desiree Jane Sabo (Michael), his brothers; Richard and Terry Goodwin, two sisters; Nancy LaFleur and Janice Zdun, grandchildren Anthony Grillo, Zoe, Michaela and Gabriel and his ex-wife; Donna Marie Goodwin.
Memorial will be conducted at a later time in CT.
