Earl Wayne Britt, loving husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on the wings of an angel on October 31, 2010. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was married for 32 years to the love of his life, Sherry Powell Britt. He loved the Lord and he loved his church. Wayne never met a stranger. He worked as a law enforcement officer from 1993 until 2010, and spent his last five years working as a Sergent for the Special Police at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born on April 26, 1953, in Columbus County NC. He was the son of the late Lonnie and Letha Rae Britt. His is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Powell Britt; a daughter, Angela Lynn Owen of Spring Hill, FL; two sons, Earl Wayne Britt II of the home, and Michael Lee Britt and his girlfriend, Marie Pena, of Rocky Point, NC; four grandchildren, Christy Owen, Melissa Owen, Samantha and Savanna Smith; six brothers, Richard, Ronald, Jerry, Bill, Jackie, and Johnny Britt; one sister, Shirley Long; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Harris, Otis, Bobby, and Buddy Britt; and four sisters, Betty Britt Chalifour, Geraldine Britt Naylor, Nancy Britt Rivenbark, and Kay Britt Gurganious.

There will be a visitation from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service.

A celebration of his life will be 1 PM, Friday, November 5, 2010, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 7990 Market Street officiated by Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Male, Sr.

    BRITT WAS A TRUE FRIEND IN EVERYWAY ANYONE COULD IMAGINE, HIS SMILE, HIS STERNESS WHEN HE NEED TOO BUT ABOVE ALL HE WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR A FRIEND OR CO-WORKER.
