Edith Upchurch Wilson, age 94 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington NC.
Edith was born and raised in Fuquay/Varina  where she lived most of her childhood on a farm. After she graduated from High school she attended Kennedys Business & Commercial school in Durham.  Edith worked for Pender Manufacturing Company for 4 years, NC Dept of Conservation & Development tourist division for 3 years and then spent 18 years working as an office manager for the State Magazine. She retired at age 48 so she could travel with her husband. Edith and her husband became charter members of St. James United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC. Edith only recently lived in Wilmington to be near her granddaughters where she lived until she passed away.
Edith is survived by her brothers, Charles B. Upchurch (Annette) and Douglas E. Upchurch (Emmaree). Granddaughters Courtney W. Schardt of Wilmington, Cameron W. Pearson (Cameron) of Wilmington and Camille Wilson of Oriental.  Grandsons Jason and John Wilson of Virginia Beach.  Great grandsons Chase and Jacob Schardt, Brock Fuller and Owen Pearson and 1 Great granddaughter, Taylor Pearson. 2 Step children Judy Wilson Harrell of Portsmouth VA and Jeff B. Wilson (Joanne) of Virginia Beach VA and a cousin Baron Adams of Durham NC.  She also has several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in Death by her parents Charlie D and Myrtle Adams Upchurch of Raleigh NC, her husband Jeff B. Wilson and son Clinton B. Wilson of Raleigh NC.
Edith was greatly loved and will be missed very much by her family. There will be a graveside service at Montlawn Memorial Park and Cemetery, 2911 S Wilmington st., Raleigh NC 27603Thursday October 12th, 2017 at 2:00pm.

    Courtney, Cameron, and Camille......I am so sorry for your loss...you will miss your grandma, but look at all the wonderful memories that you have that you can reflect on whenever you are feeling sad. She was blessed with a long life and now she is a peace.
