Edmund Bush Redington, Jr., 72, of Wilmington, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2012 surrounded by his family at his home.

Born in New London, CT on September 14, 1940, he was a son of the late Edmund Bush Redington, Sr. and Helen Louise Smith Redington. He attended American University before working as a technician with C & P Telephone Company, retiring after 30 years. Ed was a volunteer firefighter in Virginia for over 20 years. He served his country for 30 years with the US Coast Guard and retired as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. His love was amateur radio which he enjoyed for 40 years. He was a member of The Episcopal Church for over 45 years and an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Hampstead.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Jackie L. Redington; a son, Keith Redington (Angela); a daughter, Kimberly Redington; 2 brothers, George Redington, Robert Redington; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Galbraith; and 4 granddaughters, Jaylen, Hannah, Emily, and Katheryn Redington.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Pamela Stringer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALS Foundation; 1275 K Street NW, Suite 1050; Washington, DC 20005 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center; 1414 Physicians Drive; Wilmington, NC 28401.

Ed I considered you my elmer and you put a HF radio and microphone in my hand for the first time. I will miss all the trips adventures and good times we had together from camping, hamfests, battleship, and lighthouse events. You always were there to help me or anyone in the Ham radio hobby.
