Edward E. Mittman, Jr., formerly of Cary, passed away on June 1, 2010 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
Mr. Mittman was born in 1916 in Indianapolis, IN, graduated from Purdue University, and worked for Motorola, Inc. designing RF systems for two way radios and cellular phones in the eastern US. He retired in Cape May, NJ, later returned to Indianapolis, and finally moved to North Carolina . A lover of classical music, Ed sang in church choirs, attended symphony orchestras and operas, joined the American Theater Organ Society, maintained pipe organs, and designed sound systems.
He is survived by his wife June, children Janet, Barbara, and Edward, and grandchildren Kelsey and Austin Quigley.
A service will be held at 3pm on July 18, 2010 at Plantation Village in Wilmington, NC, where a memorial fund has been created in his name.
Donations will be given to the Ashley Miller Fund, which provides scholarships to talented music students specializing in theater or church organ.
