Edward J. Doran, 87, of Wilmington died Friday May 15, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 26, 1921 in Greenwich, Connecticut.
He is survived by his son Guy Doran & family.
He retired in White Plains New York as Senior Vice President of the Franklin Savings Bank in New York City.
Edward and his wife Stella, moved to Wilmington in 1993. Mr. Doran was active in the local community, he supported the Habitat for Humanity and the Domestic Violence Shelter. He established the Stella Doran International Studies Award Endowment to support students in International Studies at UNCW. He will be remembered for his compassion, wisdom, dignity, caring attitude, and happy disposition. He love to travel, play golf, walk the beach, play games, and commune with friends, and speak with family on a daily basis. He and his wife had great joy traveling extensively through Europe. He will be missed.
Celebration of life will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Andrews Mortuary on Market Street.
