Edward J. Hess, Jr of Gardiner, NY born July 30, 1948, passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2021. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran, father, grandfather and loved by many.

Ed always loved meeting new people and striking a good conversation. He was the kind of man that never met a stranger, friendly and witty and always had a great joke or story to tell. His favorite activities included karaoke, fishing, watching football, taking road trips, playing cards, and enjoying his retirement living by the beach.

Aside from being survived by his fiancé Karen Leal, Ed also leaves behind two daughters, Kimberly Hess of Raleigh, NC, Tara Gonzalez and her husband Luis of Wilmington NC. and Kacey Breach who was like a son to him. Also, granddaughters Kaylee Robbins, Mia Gonzalez and brother William Hess and wife Kayo of Gardiner, NY. Nephew William Hess and niece Tina Hess. And nephews Michael and Robert Pole.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 1-3 PM at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with military honors at 2PM.

    I remember all the times we spent with our cousin Ed. He had a wonderful and infectious laugh. He always loved when all our families got together for family reunions and family celebrations. I will miss the good times we shared. My memories of Ed will always bring a smile to my face and he will be truly missed by me.
