Edwin Dale Merritt, 77, of Castle Hayne, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017.
He was born in Tabor City, October 20, 1939. Edwin was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era. He had been employed for more than 30 years at Holsum Bakery and more recently worked in carpet sales at World of Floors.
Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Evans Merritt; his parents, Herbert Lee and Pearlie Bell Merritt, and several siblings.
He is survived by his daughters; Donna Klutz of Wilmington, Tammie Hutchison and her husband Brian of Gainesville, VA, and Theresa Barker and her husband Paul of Waxhaw, NC; his former wife, Jan Yopp and her husband Gordon of Wilmington, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm in the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at the Pentecostals of Wilmington, 3615 Chippenham Drive in Wilmington. Pastor Floyd Morris, Sr., will officiate.
