Memorial Gifts & Donations

Eileen B Rock left this earth to be with her creator on Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022. She was born in Cleveland Ohio, December 12,1924 to Albert and Della Moore. For 97 years this very special lady experienced a life well lived!

She was a flight stewardess for over forty years. She started her career with Capital Air in her mid-twenties and retired with United Airlines in 1986. Eileen was a world traveler, seeing four continents! She loved serving others therefore she truly enjoyed her working years.

Eileen married Conrad Bostrom in 1953, sadly she lost him much too soon in 1955. Shortly after, Eileen moved to California to be around family and focused on her career. In the mid 70’s Eileen was blessed to find love once again. She met Robert Rock in Hawaii while waiting in line to go on a sunset cruise. Bob forgot his wallet, so Eileen paid his admission. Bob was relentless in asking her to dinner in order to return the favor, needless to say he won her over. They married in San Francisco, September of 1977. They moved to NJ and retired in Wilmington NC in 1986. They adored each other and lived a blessed life, full of adventure, until Bob passed in 1992.

Eileen’s passion in life was serving others. She volunteered whenever possible, including going to Haiti to distribute vaccines. She proudly served her country by volunteering to steward flights that brought our soldiers home from the Vietnam War. Here in Wilmington, she volunteered for numerous organizations including NHRMC hospital, ILM airport, The Cape Fear Garden Club, Good Shepherd, First Presbyterian church and she was a board member of the New Hanover nursing home advisory committee. She donated to many charities locally and nationally. Eileen’s legacy is her kindness and generous heart. Her favorite charities will continue to benefit for years to come.

Eileen never had children however, her sister Janet Leyhe had three children that she loved, adored and mentored like a mother. She had cousins, aunts, uncles, great nieces and great nephews that enjoyed her company in California. When she married Bob she was blessed to gain a relationship with Bob’s son, and gained two more nephews and a niece.
We will honor Eileen’s life by dedicating acts of kindness in our daily lives and applying the words of wisdom she gifted us.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the wonderful dedicated care team that enriched Eileen’s life with love and comfort.
Private services will be held with family members. It would honor Eileen if everyone bestowed acts of kindness, good deeds and love, just as she did her entire life.
