Memorial Gifts & Donations

Elizabeth A. Davis, resident of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall, Wilmington, N.C., passed away April 17, 2017.

Born in 1939 in Scranton, Pa., Liz spent much of her adult life in Saratoga County, N.Y., where she raised three children with husband, Joe, and had a successful career as a realtor. She and Joe made North Carolina home in 2003, living a wonderful life in both St. James Plantation and then Carolina Bay. Elizabeth loved being with her children and grandchildren, being in or near the water, a good game of golf or bridge and socializing with friends. Her most beautiful smile could light up any room.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph F. Davis; their son, Jeffrey Davis (wife, Bridget), of Wenham, Mass.; their daughter, Lisa Boland, (husband, Kenneth), of Southbury, Conn. and their daughter, Sara Gallagher (husband, Michael), of Sinking Springs, Pa.; grandchildren, Kyle, Daniel, Molly, Madison, Nicole, Claire, Andrew and Jeffrey; along with their newborn great-granddaughter, Charlee, brought her great joy.

She was predeceased by her father, William Ellicott Sr.; her mother, Mary Price Ellicott; adored brothers, Thomas and William Ellicott; and her precious granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Gallagher.

In keeping with our beloved Liz’s wishes to celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing, there will be no public memorial service. A private burial will be held by family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the March of Dimes.

Dear joe & family it is with a heavy heart I write this . We were friends since 5 yrs old growing up I block from each other. Our dad's owned business a bakery (her dad) (grocery store) my dad so our mom's had to be a big part of our lives-- church events, school events. We did confirmation together at presby church in Blakely in our white dresses. She was 6 months older than I so she started school ahead of me but until she married and moved to state college we had the best friendship. Her smile would light up a room and always did (right to the end I'm sure). So happy we connected when jim and I started to come to sunset beach every winter (this is the first yr we didn't come) but we never lost touch with each other. we had many fun lunches and dinners together ,so many laughs i loved to hear her laugh. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I was saddened to read about Liz's passing in the Saratogian this morning. My condolences to you Joe, and your family. I think of our times together with our little cabin investment on Saratoga Lake and the fun and experiences at Roberts Real Estate. I have thought of you both often and wondered how you were and where you were. Liz was a beautiful person inside and out. I really cared for her and felt she was a real friend. May she rest in peace. Wanted to let you know that Vicki passed away May 19, 2011 at 59 yrs. Blessings on you Joe.
