Elizabeth Joan Skaggs

Elizabeth Joan Skaggs, age 81 of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Tuesday, May 30,, 2023.

Elizabeth was born on April 9, 1942 in Brandenburg, KY to the late Clarence Wardrip and Willa Givens Wardrip. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Sylvester Skaggs; son, Walter Skaggs; and brothers, Jerry Wardrip, Fred Howard Wardrip, and Bobby Wardrip.

Elizabeth was a member of the J. R. Dink Order of the Easter Star, Brandenburg, KY, and was also a member of the Brandenburg United Methodist Church. She loved crafting with her group at the Wrightsboro United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC. She loved baking, especially when it came to baking for church functions. Elizabeth was a lover of crosswords and candy crush, as well as the other many games on her iPad.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Skaggs, Billy Skaggs, and Brian (Kathy) Skaggs; brother, George (Bonnie) Wardrip; sister-in-law, Joyce Burks Wardrip; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. -12:00 P.M. from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. from the chapel at the Funeral Home with Bro. Seth Miller officiating with burial to follow at Cap Anderson Cemetery.
