Elma Russell Thompson, 90 of Wilmington passed away July 16, 2010 at Brunswick Cove Nursing Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Durgan Thompson and her daughter Eunice Thompson Edens.

Elma is survived by her five children James Dennis Thompson and wife Judy, Peggy Thompson Canady, Charles Edwin Thompson, Donald Craig Thompson and wife Theresa, William Neil Thompson, a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sisters Louise, Essie and Gordon, brother PM Russell and wife Leona, and a dear friend Margaret Bell.

Elma was a homemaker, who loved to dance and Big Band Music. She loved her church and spending time with her family.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Monday, July 19, 2010 at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service. Graveside service will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401
