Ernest Eugene Russell Sr. age 73, passed away November 21, 2013 at his residence.

He was born April 18, 1940 in Wilmington, NC a son of the late John Quincy and Nellie Potter
Russell.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters Shirley and Emma Jean, and his brothers
Buddy, Bobby, Ronnie and Ray, and a great-grandson Michael Paul Zurcher, Jr.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 54 years, Wilhelmina Russell, daughter Donna, sons Gene
(Christina), Mark (Wyndi), Wesley (Kim) and Tracy (Casey). Also surviving are his sisters
Madeline, Betty and Carolyn, and his brothers William and Jimmy, and 15 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to family friend Dale Zurcher, and the Hospice staff, who provided care and
comfort during his illness.

Funeral service will be 4 PM Sunday November 24, 2013 at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Visitation will be 2-4 PM prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC
28401.

    My deepest condolences to all of you, Willie. I never saw Penny angry or talking bad about anyone.I was very lucky to have seen him on my visit to N.C. He did not talk much but anyone could tell he was a sweet man and loved all his children and g/children. We all loved him, may he rest in Heavenly Peace with all his brothers and sisters that preceded him in death. He is in a better place then all of is, till me meet again. Lily, Penny's sister-in-law.     I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3,4 states - And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. Hope these words give you a new hope.
