Ernest Ray Nobles, age 70 of Castle Hayne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter surrounded by his family.

Ray was born January 29, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents Virginia and George Potter.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alene Jackson Nobles; his baby “GiGI”; daughter, Stephanie Peterson and her children, Bailey and Jackson; brothers, George Potter “Junior”, and Emory Potter “Knot”and wife Phyllis; sister in-law, Linda Jones and husband Ted.

Ray was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving in Vietnam. Ray retired from Carolina Power and Light Sutton Plant after many years of service. After retirement he enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends and playing Golf almost every day.

He will missed by his many friends but especially, Von Barber and family; Jimmy Snyder; Mike Havens; Glen Cannon; all of his buddies at Rock Fish Country Club and the Smith Barber Seacoast Tournament; Ann Tancrelle; Julie Milam; two “special grandchildren, Ella and Hunter Hardee; and neighbors and friends Danny and Sandy Morris.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter for their tender care during his short stay there.

Per Ray’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. The family will be at his home to receive friends and visitors on Friday 2/17/16, and Saturday 2/18/17 evening.
