Estus Earl Lupton, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 24, 2012. He died in his home surrounded by those he loved.

He was born in Scranton, NC on March 20 to George and Bessie Lupton. He was preceded in death by his wife Arline Lupton.

He is survived by his son Wally and daughter-in-law Sharon Lupton of the home; granddaughters Kristi Sneeden, Shari Reed, and Patricia Lupton; great-grandchildren Hunter Leigh and Michael Clemmons, Mackenzie and Caleb Reed; sister Vee Bracken and niece Candace Briley, as well as many other nieces and nephews that he loved.

Estus retired from the U.S. Navy in 1959 as a Chief Boatswain Mate. He served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

He was decorated several times for distinguished service. After retiring from the Navy, he successfully owned and operated 2 service stations.

He has attended and served in various churches over the years. He was first and foremost a loving and kind man of God. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A family memorial service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Northside Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC.

    I came to know Mr.Lupton by cutting his hair for number of years.He was a very sweet and kind hearted man.The first time i ever cut his hair he told me ,if i took longer than five minutes ,it was not worth his time.Going to miss him and the stories he share with me.My condolences to the family.
