Eunice Marley Small

Eunice Marley Small, wife of Jeff Small, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 77 years of age. A native of Wilmington, NC, she was born and lived most of her life in the coastal area.

Life for Eunice could be seen in her service to her community whether that be family, church, or workplace. Upon retirement from DuPont, completing 21 years of service, she devoted herself to her family and friends.

Eunice was known for her hospitality, her love for the Lord and her love for her family. Her life with Jeff can be pictured in the scripture, “No one has greater love [no one has stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends” (John 15:13, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition).

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Kemp and Blannie Wheeler Marley, four brothers, George Marley, Rev. Paul Marley, Ivey Marley, and Isaac Marley, and two sisters, Hazel Mills and Ruby Barnhill.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Small, her son Aaron Small, three brothers, JR Marley, Clyde Marley, and JT, (Pat) Marley, and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, all of whom will cherish her memory.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday August 30, 2022 at Lake Waccamaw Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask you make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Uncle Jeff and Aaron I will miss visiting with Aunt Eunice. She always had me laughing and told me about the best places to go eat. Love to you both .

Dear Jeff and Aaron, and all the family. With sympathy and love, I'm thinking of you at the loss of Eunice. Though she's left us for now, she'll always be dear within the memories of my lifetime when she was here; always near and making me feel the cheer of her love. Nellie Marley Yancey

    Ruth Halls says:
Jeff, this picture of your Bride says it all. I will keep it in my photos. Eunice was a faithful friend who made it her business to invest in me. She was an encouragement as she lived her life caring for all that she loved if not with her hands, with her heart. When she and I prayed together and we always did, the Lord would strengthen us both and we would always end our petitions in praise. The Lord allowed Eunice to experience much physical suffering and in the midst of that, she gave Him glory and honor and the sacrifice of praise. Aaron, although you and I have never met, your Mother has had you on her tongue and in her heart with every breath. I’m confident that you have experienced unconditional love from her as our Heavenly Father bestows on us. Because she birthed you, prayed for you, was so proud of your accomplishments, you are well on your way to know your Lord. I rejoice with you. Jeff, you are a faithful honorable husband. You have provided for, cared for and loved Eunice as Christ has loved us. We rejoice in the knowledge that we will join Eunice when our time here has ended and we will be in His presence.
