Eva Lee King McPherson of Shallotte NC passed away on Thursday September 29, 2011, at her home. She loved being with her family and friends, fishing, and gardening, especially her roses. Her kind smile and generous spirit touched many lives.

She was born on July 21, 1938, to the late Roy Lee and Mary Eva Cain King. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lyndia Avant and husband Julius of Elizabethtown, NC and Brenda Leigh Leonard and husband Michael of Shallotte, NC. One brother, Roy Lynn King and wife Doris of Rutledge, GA. Five grandchildren, Keith Dowless and wife Angie of Bladenboro, NC, Kelly Avant Crabill and husband Rob of Wake Forest, NC, Chris B. Avant and wife Amber of Elizabethtown, NC, Mindy Milliken of Shallotte, NC, Brian Milliken of Shallotte, NC. Four great grandchildren, Kristen and Kayla Dowless, Cameron Crabill, Tristin Catalanotto, and three step-children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dalton Ray Norton of Bladenboro, NC and Harold Gene McPherson of Chadbourn, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm on October 6, 2011, in Jennies Branch Baptist Church, 5256 Beach Dr. SW, Shallotte, NC with the Rev. Robbie Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Allen Cemetery, Dublin, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Community Home Care and Hospice, 117 Village Road Ste E, Leland, NC.

    Grandma Lee You have left us. Not by choice, I know you would have loved to stay with us forever. We are all hurt by your absence.     Lee has been a dear friend for such a long time. Even though she was a few years older, I remember her when she was a young woman and I use to think she was so pretty. Later in years we became the best of friends and have remained so no matter where we were. We talked almost every week or at least every two weeks. I will surely miss our conversations and the person she was. I will always remember her smile and her way of making things seem brighter. I will not say good-bye, but so long my dear friend. I know we will be together again someday. Love to all of the family. Just keep her smile in your hearts and things will come easier.
