Florence “Flo” Dian Hough

Florence “Flo” Dian Hough, age 81 of Wilmington, NC, sadly passed away at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Services of Wilmington on June 10, 2023.

Flo was born on May 26, 1942 in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY to the late William and Josephine Brucato Woollard.

Flo was lovingly nicknamed “Sunshine” by her grandmother, Alfonsina Brucato, during the first time that she held her as an infant. Her grandmother took Flo from her mother’s arms in the car and held her; the sun was shining and that sweet bundle of joy started to smile. Alfonsina at that moment said, “You are my Sunshine”.

Flo attended Public School 42, then Benjamin Nathan Cardozo Junior High School 198, and finished up her academics at Far Rockaway High School, where she graduated in 1960. Flo met the love of her life, Garrett E. Hough, and they were married on November 4, 1961. They had 58 wonderful years together until Gary’s passing on February 10, 2020.

Flo is survived by her daughter Colleen Christensen of Wilmington, NC, her sister Barbara Jean Morris (Dennis) of Brushton, NY and Delray Beach, FL, and granddaughter Kassandra Allysa Holz of Middle Island, NY.

In addition to her aforementioned parents, Flo is preceded in death by her husband Garrett E. Hough (2020) and her daughter KellyAnn Hough Holz (2022).

A Visitation for Flo will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 11:30am at St Mark Catholic Church, immediately followed by Flo being laid to rest beside her husband in the church columbarium.
