Floyd B. Sellars, age 83 of Leland passed away Monday, January 27, 2014.

He was born on August 25, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Sellars and Lydia Ganey Sellars.

Floyd was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Leland, and served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He lived in Leland for most of his life, and most everyone in the community knew and loved him. Floyd served as a Brunswick County Court Magistrate for many years, and he was involved in many community activities including the Leland Rescue Squad, and was proud of being the first and only one-arm EMT. He never let his handicap stop him from doing anything he wanted to do, or helping anyone that needed him.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Holmes Sellars; sister, Gracie White of Leland and sister-in-law Oneil Holmes of Leland; two daughters, Patsy Jean Smith Sellars Duvall and husband Richard of Leland, and Janet Lee Smith Maricle and husband Todd of Verona, MO; his beloved grandchildren, Amie Brown (Chad), and Richard Duvall, Jr. (Shannon); six precious great grandchildren, Savannah, James, John, Will, Mason, and Brantley.

Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Leland, 517 Village Road. The family will see friends starting at 11 am until the service time. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbears will be active and inactive Deacons of First Baptist Church of Leland.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Leland Christian Academy.

    Mr.Floyd was a wonderful inspiration to All who knew him. He always had a listening ear and a smile on his face. He touched those that knew him by his humble, sweet spirit. He was a great example nor a true man of God and his life showed his love for his Heavenly Father. He will be missed by so many people for he touched many people's life's by his sweet, humbled spirit. To Sweet Mrs.Betty, Patsy, Ricky, Amy, Richard, all his sweet grands and the entire family...
