Frances Britt Wimbish Andrews Hirt was born on August 18, 1929 in Bladen County, NC. She died on June 18, 2023 in Wilmington, NC.
She was the daughter of the late Benton and Eva Britt of Elizabethtown, NC and was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Britt Smith, and her two brothers, Thalmadge Britt and Pat Britt. She lived most of her adult life in Raleigh, NC and the remainder of her adult life in Emerald Isle, NC; Elizabethtown, NC; and Wilmington, NC.
Fran worked for the American Cancer Society in Raleigh, NC and the Literacy Council of Bladen County, NC as well as other employers including being self employed in the restaurant business and retail clothing business in Swansboro, NC. She enjoyed working and was very motivated to do so. Her working life spanned a total of 70+ years and only ended at that time due to her health.
She is survived by a son, Jim Wimbish (Nancy) of Indian Trail, NC; a daughter, Debbie Dove (Bill) of Youngsville, NC; and a daughter, Wanda Peacock (Doug) of Wilmington, NC. Also left to remember her are 6 grandchildren, Amy (Dan), Thad (Erin), Kristi (Todd), Jennifer, James & Mary (Perry) who knew her as Granny, and 6 great grandchildren, Toby, Hudson, Gray, Hadley, Cameron, and Malaina, who knew her as Gigi. Also surviving her are several nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Frankie.
