Memorial Gifts & Donations

Frank was born in Philadelphia, PA. During WWII he served with the 8th Air Force in Europe, 384th Bomb Group, and flew 31 missions. After the war he returned to Philadelphia where he married Nancy Ellsworth, his wife of 71 years. Later they moved to Durham, NC and then Wilmington, arriving just in time for Hurricane Hazel.

Nevertheless, Frank and Nancy remained in Wilmington and raised three children. Initially Frank worked as the manager of Tops Service Station at Third and Red Cross Streets. Later he worked for the Postal Service from which he retired. Frank was an avid reader of The Star News, every morning, as well as magazines and books. He enjoyed wood working and was noted for his picnic tables and furniture for his family. One of his great pleasures was riding around with his dog, Beau, in the “Beau-mobile”. This was a compact car with a platform and rugs in lieu of all seats but the driver’s.

In addition to Nancy, Frank is survived by his daughter, Nancy Fauser of High Point, his son David and wife Dee Dee of Hampstead and his son Steve of Baltimore, MD. With Nancy he shares three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 612 College Road, on Saturday, February 26th at 1:00 pm. This will be preceded by a social hour of remembrance at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the animal rescue of choice.

I worked for Frank at Tops Service Station in 1956,1957. He was a ''good boss man'' and friend.

I met Frank & Nancy when we became neighbors in Tifton Park in 1998. I will always remember Frank as the creative woodworker in his garage with his wonderful music playing. It would always make me smile to see Frank working in his garage & I really enjoyed his music. Frank is now with the ultimate carpenter. Nancy, my prayer & thoughts are with you & your family.

Mr Frank and Miss Nancy were my neighbors for many years. Mr Frank was so talented with his woodworking skills. He built me a book case for my work materials in garage and a lovely stool. I always enjoyed his classical music which permeated the neighborhood and his walks down the street. His sense of humor was delightful and enjoyed visiting with he and miss Nancy. Peace to the family and wonderful memories of a Godly man!
