Frederick Strickland, Sr., 85, of Leland, NC, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

He was born in Robeson Co., NC, on June 4, 1926, the son of the late Murdock and Isabelle Durden Strickland.

Surviving is his wife, Helen Marie Strickland, daughters, Frances Malpass and Lisa King ; son, Freddie Strickland all of Leland, NC; eight grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; three sisters, Sally Hogg of Jacksonville, NC, Beulah Poston of Fairmont, NC; and Florence Johnston of Corpus Christi, TX; brother, Claude Strickland of Fairmont, NC.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Friday, April 6, 2012 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. Officiating will be Rev. Jerome Bullard. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
