Frieda Anna Geiger age 100 of Castle Hayne passed away December 30, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

Born in Hamburg, Germany on November 1, 1912. She was a daughter of the late Heinrich Mengel and Maria Mahler Mengel. She was also predeceased by her husband,Otto Geiger and 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mrs. Geiger was educated in Germany as a Secretery. In 1952, she came to the US with her husband and 3 children to be with her sister in New Jersey. In 2001, after her husband passed away, she came to live with her daughter in Wilmington, NC and became a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her 3 children, Ursula Cuthbertson and husband Leonard of Castle Hayne,NC.,Manfred Geiger and wife Suzanne of Dunellen,NJ., Elke Puhala and husband Michael of Middletown, NJ. And special daughter, Sondra Kelly of Broughton,Mass.; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren,1 great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held in Middletown, New Jersey.

Memorials can be made to St.Pauls Lutheran Church, 12 N.6th Street Wilmington,NC.28401.

    Liebe Ursel, lieber Manfred und liebe Elke, lieber Enkel-Kinder, kurz nach dem unserer Mutter am 19. Dec. verstarb, folgte Tante Friedel, Mutters Schwester. Wir sind traurig, aber freuen uns, beide so lange in unserer Mitte gehabt zu haben. Am 3. Jan. hatten wir die Mutters Trauerfeier im Rosenhof und haben dabei auch unsere liebe Tante Friedel mit einbezogen. Tante Friedel und Onkel Otto bleiben unvergessen. Lasst Euch lieb umarmen. We will always remember her – as well as your father’s - hospitality when staying with you. We really had good times with all of you in New Jersey and I like to think back.
