    David McGirt says:
I learned just yesterday of Galen Harris’s death. I am saddened to the quick. Although Galen and I lost contact and communication following his marriage to Linda and his move to Wilmington, he and his family were a huge influence on my life in all of the best of ways. I suppose I enjoyed as many meals at the Harris table as I did in my family home just across McMillan Street in Red Springs. Galen and his family were just wonderful people. His mother, “Ducie” saved many important events for me by last minute repairs to my clothing. She was a wonderful seamstress and just the best person one could know. Galen’s father, Galen, Sr., had the soul and heart of a saint. Galen, Jr. was reared by the best of the best, and I have no doubt that he and Linda did an excellent job rearing Adam and David. My deepest sympathies and most gentle thoughts go out to the Harris family.
