Memorial Gifts & Donations

Gary E Hinson entered his eternal home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Gary was born March 4, 1955, in Mount Olive, NC to the late Willie Henry Hinson, Jr. and Sula Hinson. He grew up in Clinton, NC and moved to Wilmington, NC in 1980 where he met his wife, Donna. Gary was a man with very strong faith, who lived it out daily and by being active in the Church throughout his entire life. He spent his career of 42 years in Food Service Sales, where he and his family moved throughout the Carolinas as he took on various roles. Toward the end of his career, Gary decided to come back to his favorite coastal community, Wilmington, where he enjoyed spending his time with his family on the boat. He was very passionate about the people he worked with and the many clients he served. His colleagues trusted him and his leadership, guiding them with integrity, honesty, and faith. He would even sign his emails with, “You have the ability to make a difference in someone’s life every day.” And he certainly did. Without question, family came first for Gary. He was a devoted husband and father who showed them all how to live and how to love. Because of his devotion, he leaves a great legacy with his wife of 41 years, Donna Hinson, of Wilmington; his son Zach Hinson and wife Sarah, of Wilmington; and daughter Hilary Manuliova and husband Sergei, of Bayport, Minnesota. He will be greatly missed by his four
beautiful grandchildren, Ellie and Eliza Hinson, and Danya and Masha Manuliova. He is also survived by his brother Kim and wife Roxanne, two sisters Anita and Carol and a brother-in-law Robert Carroll, his sister-in-law Michelle and husband Shawn, brother-in-law Mark and wife Dana, nine nieces and nephews, one great-niece and two great-nephews. He will also be missed by his aunt Doris, who was like a sister to him, his uncle Nelson and wife Janice, his aunt Eleanor and many cousins. Gary was loved and admired by so many people and had many special friends and he was proceeded in death by his sister, Wanda. We have been blessed throughout this two month journey by a multitude of family and friends, and we thank all of you for your love and support.

A service will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 2:00pm at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation at 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, NC 28403.

Gary was a great man of faith and integrity and I so enjoyed working with him during the years at US Foods. He always had a smile and definitely made sure he remembered to send birthday messages each year. Sending prayers to his entire family as he now becomes your angel watching down over all of you. Always treasure the many great memories made with him.
