Many years ago, I was in conversation with Sr. Mary Timothy, in the hall at SJA. Someone walked by and Gary's name was overheard. She looked at me with a smile and said, "Ah, Mr. Carter, 'All the world loves a clown!". It was said in jest but it was so true regarding my dear, old friend. He was a joy to know from the first time we met at years old. My prayers and love to the family and friends of this great man. We'll all see him, soon.
