Memorial Gifts & Donations

Gavin Robert Fresia, born on December 11, 2020, in Wilmington, North Carolina, left this world on August 12, 2023. Though his time on Earth was short, Gavin’s impact was immeasurable, and his spirit will forever be remembered.

Gavin, at the tender age of 2 years and 8 months, brought joy and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious laughter and bright smile could light up even the darkest of days. He was also known as the Director of Smiles at Keller Williams Realty. He had a special fondness for bubbles, hats, stars, music, dancing and his beloved standard poodle, Beau. Gavin loved strumming along to music with his ukulele. These simple joys brought him immense happiness, reminding us all of the beauty found in life’s simplest pleasures.

Born to Brandon Scott Fresia and Claire Marie Choate, Gavin was a cherished son whose presence filled their lives with love and warmth. The bond between Gavin and his parents was unbreakable, a testament to the incredible love they shared. Gavin’s paternal grandparents, Michael and Katherine Fresia, and maternal grandparents, Robert “Papi” and MJ “Mimi” Peirce, were fortunate to witness his growth and be part of his journey. They provided unwavering support, love, and guidance throughout his too-brief time on Earth.

Gavin’s uncles, Michael Fresia and Sam Choate, and his aunt, Anjelica Fresia, were sources of endless laughter and affection for him. Their love and presence added richness to Gavin’s life, creating memories that will forever be treasured.

A visitation will be held at Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 S. 41st St. Wilmington, NC 28403 on August 20, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 pm. A Catholic mass will be held in honor of Gavin at Basilica of Saint Mary’s, 412 Ann St, Wilmington, NC 28401 on August 21, 2023, beginning at 12:00 noon, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Following the service, Gavin will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery located at 520 N 15th St, Wilmington, NC 28401. In this time of mourning, let us also remember the joy Gavin brought into our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider donating a stuffed animal to be given to the Wilmington Children’s Hospital, in Gavin’s honor, allowing other children to experience the comfort and happiness that Gavin cherished.

Gavin Robert Fresia may have departed from this world too soon, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory be a guiding light, reminding us to find joy in the simplest moments and to embrace the love and laughter that surround us.

I enjoyed being Gavin's neighbor so much! Seeing him and his shy little smile in the elevator. Watching him love on his pup, Beau. Such a sweet little soul! Praying for overwhelming peace and comfort for both Brandon and Claire.
