    Gerald Clarke says:
About 3 or 4 years ago I came down to Wilmington with my beautiful bride to meet her aunt and uncle or better known as her second parents. I was welcomed with a warm smile and love. Over the next few years Gene and I would talk/ write to each other about, poems, life and love. He made the world a better place and all of us a little richer for knowing him. I thank you for the gift of my wife and the warmth of your friendship. Rest well! I will miss you.

    Faye and David says:
Words can not express our admiration for Gene and his remarkable struggle in light of this awful illness that took so much from him. He never ever let us know how terrible it was for him. Instead he grew as a poet, he continued to be kind to and care about others, and inspire us all. He will always be in our hearts and memories. We add our love and condolences to you - Diane, Mike, Julie, and David.

We still smile when we see all the pictures of us laughing in out matching tee shirts!
